Fun And Games At Dunchurch

Planning permission for two flood lit tennis courts on the Dunchurch Village Hall & Sportsfield site was recently renewed and supporters and friends got together in the Village Hall on Friday 1st November for their first serious fund raising event. Organisers Carol Seager & Helen White were joined by Masters of Ceremonies, Mike Judge, for a marathon evening of fun & games and an outstanding meal cooked up by Dave Seager and His team.

Around ninety or so villagers joined in a series of team and individual games from marshmallow and spaghetti tower building to toilet roll Mummy making, horse racing to fancy hat decorating. The pace and fun were relentless and with prizes of Moet et Chandon and Old Grouse Whisky on offer along with bubble baths and ornamental cabbages! The Martina Navratilova Team gained most points during the evening but Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe showed up well!

The silent auction with fine festive dining donated by Dunchurch Park Hotel & Conference Centre and the Dun Cow Hotel brought in the bids and a round of golf for four from Whitefield Golf was also on offer.

Thanks to all these and the other donors, supporters and helpers more than £1200 was raised on the night. In addition to the tennis court appeal the Arden Cancer Unit at Coventry Hospital will also benefit.
