Donations 2012

On behalf of the Dunchurch Festival Group we would like to thank the following organisations for their generous gifts during 2012. Their commitment to helping our local community is sincerely appreciated.

Every year the Festival Group continues to raise money for good causes in the area and contributions like this have been a fantastic help.

Thanks again for your generous support of our efforts to help Dunchurch's good causes.

Queen's Diamond Jubilee Thanks

In Dunchurch Village the grand finale of four days of celebrations of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee in early June was a terifically supported Variety Show in the village hall organised by the Dunchurch Festival group.

Proceeds from this special evening were donated to ICAN, a children's charity of which Her Majesty is the Patron. Show Director Mike Judge wrote to The Queen describing both the village celebrations and the donation and recently received a personal response from one of Her Majesty's Ladies-in-Waiting along with a charming acknowledgement from The Queen.

Mike Judge commented "Dunchurch has a long and proud record of charitable giving from money raised on occasions like the summer Fete, the annual play and pantomime and a range of other events staged by various organisations in the village. Long may such support and generosity continue.

Dunchurch Festival Players Presentation

Dunchurch Players Presentation 2012

The Dunchurch Festival Players autumn show "Off the Hook!" by Derek Benfield at the Village Hall venue was the most successful for several years and many of the regulars agreed that it was one of their funniest too.

The result was bigger audiences and their generous support led to more cash for Local Charities. A special Cancer Charities Evening had the money rolling in and the bucket collection each evening in support of the Air Ambulance proved a popular cause.

Last week Cast and Crew Members met to hand over cheques amounting to £1025.

Our picture shows:
(Front row) Cast Member Helen Hackley handing over the cheque to Gail Owen (Cancer Ward Appeal :£650), Mandy Dahlgren (Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance :£275)
(Back row) Nick Jones (Cancer Ward Appeal) and Paul Defty (Marie Curie Cancer Care :£100).

(yes, it's that time of year! well, nearly)

Dunchurch Christmas Card had been designed and produced to give a really personal village touch when you send your cards out to relatives at home and overseas.

A whole range of village organisations will be selling the cards (which shows Guy Fawks talking disguises to Santa Claus in front of the iconic house) and they will be on sale for £3 per pack of 10 cards and envelopes.

Organised by the Dunchurch Festival Group, all the profits will be retained by the group or organisation selling the cards and amongst those who hope to be doing so are the Library, W. I., Festival Group, Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Beavers, Pantomaniacs and the Churches.

Dunchurch Pantomaniacs Presentation

For over 20 years the Dunchurch Pantomaniacs have been staging Pantos to entertain the community whilst they have had lots of fun AND raised a lot of money for local good causes.

The Group have a tradition of encouraging young talent and over the years more than 200 juniors have performed on stage or helped out the technical crew. Long may this tradition continue.

On 30th April the Pantomaniacs were delighted to present cheques for over £5000 in total to a variety of causes which were close to the hearts of villagers past and present. Amongst those pictured receiving donations from Pantomaniace Director Paul Smith were Acorn Children's Hospice, Arden Cancer Ward, Bradby Club for Young People, Dunchurch Library, Rugby Pawprints, and Myton Hospice.

In addition donations were made to Cancer Research UK and Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and 2 villagers were assisted in the purchase of aids for disability
